“Revitalizing” the cigar at the InterTabac trade fair
The organizers of InterTabac Dortmund sign a partnership with the European Cigar Manufacturers Association (ECMA).
The European Cigar Manufacturers Association (ECMA) and Messe Dortmund, organizer of InterTabac, the world’s largest tobacco trade fair, are joining forces to “strengthen the show” and “revitalize the cigar segment.”
“Following the show’s expansion to include new nicotine products, strategic adjustments are necessary to ensure that InterTabac remains one of the world’s most important cigar trade fairs,” explains Paul Varakas, ECMA’s Managing Director, to L’Amateur.
One of the objectives of this partnership is to reserve one of the halls at the fair, which takes place every September in the northwestern German city, for cigar exhibitors. The next edition is scheduled for September 15-17, 2026.
The signatories also commit to developing the content of the Cigar Culture Summit, the first edition of which took place in September 2025, the day before the opening of the trade fair.
“InterTabac is the trade fair that attracts the most cigar company owners and CEOs from around the world – both as exhibitors and as attendees – let’s use these strengths to promote the cigar industry in the heart of Europe,” adds Paul Varakas.
