The Montecristo Fragata (Duty-Free Exclusive) Unveiled At The TFWA Trade Show

The limited edition exclusive to the duty-free stores was unveiled yesterday during a gala evening hosted by Habanos S.A. at the Tax Free show in Cannes.

Following the Cohiba Vistosos and the Partagás Royales, the Montecristo Fragata will be the next Cuban special edition reserved for duty-free stores. It was unveiled this Tuesday, September 29, in Cannes, France.

It is a grand robusto measuring 140 mm in length with a 54 ring gauge—a size known as “Duke” in Cuban factories and identical to that of the Partagás Serie E No. 2.

Like its predecessors, this edition comes in a travel humidor containing 20 cigars.

The “recommended price” stated by Habanos S.A. in its press release is €55 per cigar, but this recommendation is subject to significant variations depending on local regulations.

Habanos S.A. launched its program of special editions exclusive to duty-free and travel retail in 2006. Until 2022, these releases consisted of regular-production vitolas presented in special humidors or re-releases of vitolas that had been discontinued years earlier. Starting with the Hoyo de Monterrey Destinos (2023), the Cuban group has been introducing formats that are new to the brand.
