Fonseca Du Nord RE Canada 2025 hits Canadian shops this week

For the first time in 8 years, Habanos has created a Regional Edition cigar for the Canadian market.

After the 2020 pandemic hit, and combined with the plain packaging laws that took effect in Canada, the idea of a Canadian regional slipped the minds of most. However, to the pleasant surprise of cigar lovers in Canada, Havana House, the Canadian Habanos distributor announced the release of a new cigar by Fonseca called “Du Nord” (which means “from the North” in French).

The cigar is a grand robusto (140 mm x 52, factory name: genios), the exact same size as the Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios.

Featured in boxes of ten, the name “Du Nord” pays homage to the majesty and serenity of the Northern Hemisphere, evoking the purity of its landscapes and its connection to the traditions of the boreal nation, Canada.

“Un Habano Nuevo” events

The boxes are in plain packaging, and the cigars have the dark brown label.  Underneath however, we find the original Fonseca band as well as the “Exclusivo Canada” one. 6 000 boxes were produced.

As part of the “Un Habano Nuevo” events, the cigar will be celebrated with release parties across Canada by City Cigar in Vancouver, Thomas Hinds Tobacconist in Winnipeg and La Casa 1492 in Montreal. Those shops as well as the La Casa del Habano in Windsor and Edmonton will have exclusivity from Jan. 21 to 28. After that, the Fonseca Du Nord will be available in Habanos Specialists and Habanos Points starting from January 28. As of February 4, all shops will be able to carry the cigar.

The price in Quebec is $69.90 CAD per cigar.
