The Cigar of the Moment: Macanudo Emissary España Robusto
This newly launched Macanudo’s blend is particularly original, as the filler contains a leaf from Spain — from Riolobos to be precise, in the center-west region of continental Spain. The Spanish tobacco is aged 10 years while the other leaves used are aged at least five years.

Appearance: An oily colorado wrapper with chocolatey glints. Firm to the touch.
Cold draw: Spices, wood, vegetal notes. Loose draw.
Smoking experience:
First third: Lights up to some spicy, slightly fiery notes and earthy flavors. Impeccable construction. Notes of toast toward the end of the first third.
Second third: Distant notes of cocoa and earthy flavors carried by somewhat astringent smoke. Caramelized touches. The burn is still impeccable.
Final third: Increasingly round as the smoke becomes less spicy and a tad less tannic. Notes of caramel and coffee in the finish.
The ADC’s Verdict: An aromatic cigar with an original blend containing leaves from continental Spain. Its reasonable price earns it a slightly generous rating.
