Bottle of the month: For fans of margaritas…
By Philippe Hupp
Tequila Milagro, 40°, 70 cl
Danny Schneeweiss and Moy Guindi were still students – aged just 23 – when they started producing tequila. The Mexican spirit is particularly popular on American campuses. 20 years later, their intelligently marketed creations have accumulated a host of awards. They only use blue agave from the state of Jalisco. The pinãs – the heart of the plant – are cooked slowly in a brick oven and undergo a unique double distillation process in a traditional still followed by a Coffey still that gives the product its distinctive smoothness. The Milagro Silver, an unaged white tequila, is surprisingly velvety but the smoky and peppery notes are still there. Highly recommended for fans of Margaritas and Long Island Iced Tea.
