The event was scheduled to take place from February 23 to 27 in Cuba. It will be rescheduled, according to multiple sources.

The 2026 Habanos Festival will be postponed, according to concordant sources, although Habanos S.A. has not yet made an official announcement.

The event was scheduled to take place from February 23 to 27 in Cuba. However, the island is experiencing an unprecedented energy crisis, exacerbated by the interruption of oil deliveries from Venezuela since the capture of President Nicolás Maduro by the United States on January 3. Then by Donald Trump executive order threatening tariffs on all countries that supply Cuba with oil.

Several distributors were also calling for a postponement, especially since some were affected by flight cancellations or government travel warnings.

United Kingdom, Belgium and Canada advise their citizens against any “non-essential” travel to Cuba. However, this is not the case for France or Spain. In addition, several airlines have suspended their flights to Cuba.

Since February 9, the Cuban government has implemented emergency measures to address the oil shortage, including a four-day work week (Monday-Thursday) in state-owned companies, fuel rationing, a reduction in public transportation services, and increased teleworking.

Tourism and cigar production, considered national priorities, are not affected by these rationing measures and are given priority in the allocation of resources.

The Habanos Festival brings together several hundred enthusiasts and professionals each year for a program of conferences, tours, and festive evenings. The 2026 edition was to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Cohiba, the most prestigious brand in the Cuban catalog.

Since its creation in 1999, only the 2021 and 2022 Habanos Festival were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the cancellation of the 2022 Festival, Habanos S.A. organized a mini-festival in September 2022 to celebrate Cohiba’s 55th anniversary.
