Christmas Bar !
Here is the champagne that we have selected this year for Christmas !
By Phillippe Hupp
Champagne Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2006, 12,5°, 75 cl
It is one of the few great champagne houses to have retained its independence. It still belongs to the same family – and in its cellars of Epernay, thirty meters underground, one persists to stir the bottles like in the past: Pol Roger has lost none of his character.
Winston Churchill, for whom champagne was also a meal wine, was faithful to him throughout his life.
Dominated by pinot noir, the last vintage dedicated to the “old lion” is powerful, full-bodied, mature, and we imagine it willingly accompanying a roasted partridge. The balance between acidity and roundness is perfect. Notes of stewed fruits and almonds, relief, material, very beautiful aromatic persistence: a magnificent champagne and without doubt unequaled.
