Finally, a new one at Diplomáticos!
Diplomáticos Cancilleres was presented Thursday evening in Bulgaria. Until now, the brand only had one regular reference, No. 2.
Announced at the 25th Festival del Habano, at the very end of the presentation following a plethora of special editions and prestigious vitolas, the Diplomáticos Cancilleres was unveiled last week in Sofia, Bulgaria, at an event hosted by Habanos SA and its local distributor, Kaliman Caribe.
This robusto measures 130 mm in length with a 50 ring gauge (not 52 as previously announced by Habanos). It will be sold in boxes of 25 at €17.90/each in Bulgaria.
This new release joins the regular Diplomáticos catalog, which until now included only one other vitola, No. 2.
Diplomáticos was created in the 1960s to offer a more affordable replica of the Montecristo brand. It featured five cigars identical to Montecristo Nos. 1 through 5. These cigars were gradually withdrawn from the market, with the exception of No. 2. The brand survives, however, thanks to the numerous regional editions it releases each year. “With more than 17 regional editions, Diplomáticos continues to gain recognition and admiration worldwide,” noted José Maria Lopez, Vice President of Development at Habanos S.A.
Traditionally, the distributor who hosts the launch party for a new cigar benefits from an exclusivity period of a few weeks or months. The release date in other markets is still unknown.
