Named La Gran Cata (the grand tasting), this first edition will take place from January 23 to 27, 2027. Tickets are on sale on the event website.

Registration is now open for the inaugural Honduras Cigar Festival, which will take place from January 23 to 27.

Following the arrival of international participants on January 23 at Palmerola Airport (XPL), the event begins on the 24th with a tour of Tegucigalpa, the country’s capital, and a “Presidential Dinner.”

On Monday the 25th, the group will depart for Danlí—the heart of the Honduran cigar industry—for the first factory visits, followed by a “Traditional Dinner.”

Tuesday the 26th will feature further visits to plantations and factories in Danlí, concluding with a “Dinner in White.”

Finally, on Wednesday the 27th, participants may choose to travel by road to neighboring Nicaragua to join the Puro Sabor 2027 festival. For those not continuing on, return transfers to Palmerola Airport will be provided.

The registration fee is US$2,500 (approx. €2,230). This covers accommodation for the duration of the event, all lunches and dinners, scheduled festival tours and activities, as well as transfers to and from Palmerola Airport and to the Nicaraguan land border.

Some 150 participants are expected for this first edition.

Originally titled the “Honduras Cigar Festival,” the event has been renamed “La Gran Cata”—Spanish for “The Great Tasting.” The name also serves as a play on the acronym CATAH (Council of Honduran Tobacco Artisans), the association of producers organizing the event.

CATAH includes the following companies: CLE Cigar Company, Gran Habano Honduras, JRE Tobacco Co., Maya Selva Cigars, MyFather Cigars, Oliva Cigar Co., Oscar Valladares Tobacco & Co., Plasencia Cigars, Raíces Cubanas, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, and Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG).
