The first Chinese cigars arrive in Europe
Great Wall Cigar GX Lion’s Glory is launched in the Netherlands. This is the first time that premium cigars made in China have been officially imported into Europe.
Great Wall Cigars (GWC), the largest Chinese cigar brand, announces the launch of the GX Lion’s Glory in the Netherlands.
The first Chinese cigar officially marketed in Europe, the GWC GX Lion’s Glory is the result of a collaboration between the Chinese company and several international cigar specialists. This group of consultants included Stijn Elbersen, a former STG employee and founder and co-owner of the Dutch import company Small Batch Traders.
This international team of specialists traveled several months ago to Shifang (Sichuan Province), GWC’s headquarters, to create the blend with GWC’s team of master blenders.
The result is a 165mm bull cigar with a 52 ring gauge, wrapped in an Ecuadorian wrapper, an Indonesian binder, and filled with a blend of tobaccos from Cameroon, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and China.
Production is limited to 50,000 cigars. The Great Wall Cigar GX Lion’s Glory is available in boxes of 10 or in a prestige humidor containing 20 cigars. In the former case, it retails for €20 per cigar, and in the latter for €25 per cigar (prices in the Netherlands).
Currently, these cigars are available in China and the Netherlands, but GWC is looking to expand their distribution to other European countries.
