Now distributed by Volutes & Vitoles, J.C. Newman cigars are making their return to the French market.

Since April 1st, around fifteen J.C. Newman products have been available in France. Distribution is now handled by Volutes & Vitoles.

“My family has had a love for France for more than 60 years,” said four-generation owner Drew Newman to L’Amateur. “In 1962, U.S. President John F. Kennedy made it illegal for Americans to import Cuban tobacco. After that happened, France is what saved our company.”

«After the Cuban Embargo, my grandfather Stanford J. Newman began traveling to Paris for three weeks each June to select the finest Cameroon wrapper tobacco leaves for our cigars,” he added.  “My grandfather knew that the French had the finest tobacco leaves in the world and he went to Paris to buy them and bring them back to the United States. Because of his decades of travel to Paris, my grandfather developed a strong affinity for the French people and French culture. He shared countless cigars with his many friends in France. Therefore, we are especially proud that our J.C. Newman cigars are available in France again with our new partner.”

For premium cigars, Volutes & Vitoles currently offers three blends from Perla del Mal (Natural Shade, Maduro, and Corojo), each available in Robusto (€14) and Toro (€15.50) sizes.

In the bundle category, nine Quorum cigars are available, priced between €6.50 and €8 each.

Founded in 1895 by Julius Caesar Newman, an Austro-Hungarian immigrant to the United States, J.C. Newman also owns the Brick House, Diamond Crown, and El Baton brands. At its Tampa, Florida factory, it also manufactures cigars made from 100% American tobacco, sold under the name The American.
